The exhibition titled “Textile design. From Experiment to Production Line” is on view at Kunstgewerbemuseum Dresden.The selection of works on display features 38 projects by over 20 designers in six different categories including tradition, culture transfer, color, material, sustainability, and smart textiles. The exhibition raises questions such as can recycled plastic bottles be used to create sustainable and wearable fabrics. Can clothing generated from a 3D printer be production ready in the future and what are smart textiles. "Textile design. From Experiment to Production Line" contains both experimental and designs that have achieved success in serial and industrial production offering insight into the world of textiles. The show was developed to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle (BURG).The Kunstgewerbemuseum Dresden was founded in the year 1876. A new type of museum evolved affiliated to schools of arts & crafts not courtly but one with the aim of educating taste and sensibility for quality. The museum holds a collection of 60,000 objects provides and provides a basis for a discourse on design. The museum aims to live up to its original aspirations in Dresden in equal measure for public, producers, and designers.“Textile design.
