‘Partners in Design: Alfred H. Barr Jr. and Philip Johnson’ at Grey Art Gallery - NYU, New York

An exhibition, titled “Partners in Design: Alfred H. Barr Jr. and Philip Johnson” will soon be on view at Grey Art Gallery - NYU, New York.The show will highlight the collaboration between Alfred Barr, the Museum of Modern Art’s first director, and Philip Johnson, its first curator of architecture. The exhibition will showcase the roles played by them to promote design and expand its study. Around 70 objects including furniture, decorative arts, textiles, industrial products, exhibition catalogues, and ephemera will be part of the exhibition. These objects range from rarely exhibited items to icons of design. “Partners in Design” also looks at the Bauhaus-inspired vision that MoMA adopted shortly after it opened in 1929. It examines the museum’s efforts in the 1930s and ’40s to encourage a new aesthetic in modern American culture.The Grey Art Gallery is a part of the New York University. It is located at the Washington Square Park in New York City’s Greenwich Village. The gallery offers NYU’s population and the public engaging exhibitions and events. It emphasizes on experimentation and interpretation. It focuses on studying art in its historical, cultural, and social contexts. It serves as a museum-laboratory for the exploration of art’s environments.
