The exhibition titled “Now and Here – Chengdu. Liu Jiakun: Selected Works” is on view at Aedes Architekturforum, Berlin.The exhibition focuses on the issue of social concept and a respect for local context and vernacular craftsmanship. Jiakun’s works attempt to present Chinese culture in modern day architectural language. Thereby reflecting on the intertexture between individual and collective memories and highlight the relationship between the public life and urban cultural space of Chinese people. The projects presented in the exhibition are mainly based on the in Chengdu including West Village Yard. It highlights the city’s humanistic standpoint in practicing a new model of urbanization. “Now and Here – Chengdu” opens up new dialogues between China and Germany.Liu Jiakun is the chief architect of Jiakun Architects which he founded in 1999. The architecture firm specializes in architectural design, large-scale planning, urban design, landscape design, interior design, product design as well as installation art. It has received several local and international awards. It has also participated in numerous exhibitions and international collaborations.“Now and Here – Chengdu.
