“Pop Nouveau,” an exhibition featuring the works of Italian architect and designer Vincenzo de Cotiis will run through December 16, 2016, at Carpenters Workshop Gallery, London. This will be the first time that the Mayfair gallery space will be showcasing a selection of his works. The show comprises new inspiring furniture pieces taken from Cotiis’s Progetto Domestico collection. Two themes are central to the exhibition: Pop as rebellion against stereotypes and Nouveau the liberation from mechanized forms. By using innovative and salvaged and reclaimed materials, Vincenzo De Cotiis’s designs are at the same time lavish and sparse, rich and raw, with primacy of material and texture over form and function. The pieces on display include a large silver-plated brass wall cabinet, a contorted neon-light chandelier in tubular brass, as well as two new wall lamps, a floor lamp, two side tables and a new dining table. The exhibition is on view at Carpenters Workshop Gallery, 4 Albemarle St, Mayfair, London W1S 4GA, UK.
