As a curtain raiser for the autumn auction, PIASA will hold its biannual specialist sale on September 14 at 7pm in Paris. Works up for auction will be pieces of Scandinavian design, including furniture, ceramics, and lighting designs.Crisp outlines make Scandinavian furniture look modern and appealing. Denmark's Poul Kjærholm, renowned worldwide for his elegant and refined style, was famous for this unique approach to craftsmanship. The PIASA sale will feature one of his famous seating designs — the minimalist PK12 armchair. The golden age of Danish Modernism is highlighted through the works of Ejnar Larsen and Bender Madsen, whose finely carved 1958 Brazilian rosewood desk with an original copper top is also up for auction.Another highlight of the auction is Axel Salto’s selection of 30 ceramics in his ‘budding,’ ‘sprouting,’ and ‘living stones’ styles. One of the most prolific and distinctive Danish artists of his time, Salto’s works can be found in collections of international designs across the globe.Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek of the auction.
