Sarah Myerscough, the respected London-based design and art gallerist, has announced that she is to open a new gallery for art and design. Called PHOS ART + DESIGN, the new gallery will be a thorough re-imagining of the existing Sarah Myerscough Gallery in the same Mayfair location, when it opens this September. With a gallery that opened in 1998, Myerscough has been one of the early gallerists to exhibit works of design alongside artworks. "By disrupting preconceived boundaries in art and encouraging new-found freedoms of artistic expression, the gallery began to offer support and instigated dialogues and collaborations between the applied and fine art disciplines, to evolve into something new in gallery culture." said Myerscough. The new PHOS ART + DESIGN will continue presenting design works alongside works of art. Myerscough has partnered with Ron Dennis CBE, Chairman and CEO of the McLaren Technology Group and an enthusiastic collector of contemporary art, design and craft. According to Myerscough, the gallery will be project-led and showcase international artists, designers and craftsmen, presenting interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary work through solo exhibitions and collaborations."PHOS ART + DESIGN will seek out, support and develop creative connections between practitioners using the highest level of craftsmanship to the most specialist and innovative creative skills, whether it be in sculptural wood design or digital art installations using the latest advances in technology." says Myerscough. "The gallery will underscore the importance of preserving and keeping vital traditional techniques that are passed through generations, while also heralding new technological processes in works of art and design that represent the antiques of the future."The inaugural exhibition will present works by international artist Dominic Harris. The artist's first solo show in London will form part of the London Design Festival and Icon Trail when it opens on September 18 under the title Moments of Reflection. The exhibition will include previously unseen large-scale digital interactive artworks, some of which have been made exclusively for this exhibition, and will include the seminal work "Ice Angel," displayed at the Victoria & Albert Museum in 2012.The new gallery space has been designed by the award-winning Cinimod Studio, transforming the traditional format of the art gallery to allow an innovative exhibition program and an expanding range of artworks. Cinimod has incorporated a unique modular fixing systems which encompasses floors, walls, and ceiling, allowing maximum flexibility in hanging artworks in different mediums.Sarah Myerscough has exhibited designers and craftspeople such as Friedemann Buehler, Peter Marigold, Gareth Neal, Ernst Gamperl, Marc Ricourt and Michael Peterson. Dominic Harris: Moments of Reflection, will run from September 18 untill October 13, 2015 at PHOS ART + Design in London.
