Carpenters Workshop Gallery, New York, will present London-based Australian designer Charles Trevelyan’s “Fuse,” from September 13 through October 27, 2018.“Fuse” features five new works — three tables and two benches — created with resin and Hotavlje stone mined from Slovenia, along with a selection of twelve recent pieces never-before-exhibited in the US. The pieces were conceived in Trevelyan’s London-based studio, and created and finished by the designer at Carpenters Workshop Gallery’s Roissy workshop in France. The new works reveal the designer’s ongoing interest in scientific and engineering inquiry. “Developed via an iterative process of sculpted prototypes, these pieces explore Trevelyan’s interest in the seams and points of connection created when slabs of stone or resin meet. The indoor/outdoor Hotavlje stone benches are a study in cantilevered balance, smooth and curvilinear. The tables, rendered in wood and pastel colored resin, are angled and geometric with interlocking triangles of varied sizes, topped with a perfect circle,” a descriptive note on the exhibition by the gallery states. The exhibition will also feature a series of side tables, human size floor lamps, and desks, executed in bronze with various patina technique and new finishes in white gold, which give them a muted wildness. Each piece boasts bold, elongated forms, and expressive lines, reminiscent of trees and roots, as described by the gallery.Charles Trevelyan was born in Sydney in 1974. He moved to London in 2000, where he designs furniture, lighting and limited edition works. Trevelyan’s works have been exhibited at the Design Museum in London (2006) and internationally in Basel, Dubai, Kortrijk, Miami, New York, and Paris. The designer has collaborated with Carpenters Workshop Gallery since 2008.Founded in 2006, Carpenters Workshop Gallery relies on the partnership of Julien Lombrail and Loic Le Gaillard. With locations in London, Paris, and New York, the gallery produces and exhibits functional sculptures by international rising and established artists reaching outside their traditional territories of expression. The gallery became the first to integrate a production facility dedicated to artistic research and development of collectible design, bringing together a notable team of artisans in a 8,000m2 atelier in Roissy, France. The exhibition will be on view from September 13 through October 27, 2018 at 693 Fifth Avenue, New York 10022For more information, visit: http://carpentersworkshopgallery.com/Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition. http://www.blouinartinfo.com                                         Founder: Louise Blouin
